Pablo Mateos Gascueña is a member of Madrid Bar of Law. He earned a degree in Spanish law at the UNED University in Madrid and a LLM in European Law at the College of Europe in Bruges. He joined the Spanish Civil Service in 2004 and, as part of the International Division of the Spanish Data Protection Authority, he has been working for several years on EU and international matters in the field of data protection.
He represents the Spanish DPA at the Consultative Committee of Convention 108 at the Council of Europe and contributes regularly to the European Data Protection Board. He co-ordinates the Compliance e-Government and Health Subgroup and represents the Spanish DPA in the EDPB Expert Subgroups and in the Common Authorities of Data Protection of the EU large IT systems: SIS II, VIS, EURODAC, EUROPOL and Customs Information System. He also contributes regularly to the Iberoamerican Network for Data Protection.
He regularly teaches data protection seminars and postgraduate courses at Spanish public bodies and private organizations.
